REFEREES AND POLICE ARE SOCIALISM

It really is sad – at some point along the way FOX news convinced a lot of people that balanced capitalism equals socialism and that fairness is a bad thing. I wonder what people would say if they took the refs out of the NFL. Why not, right? The players can just make up their own rules and make the calls on each play. That would make any GOP fans happy. They prefer that the government doesn’t get involved in business or making things fair through taxation, right? See, I think that the GOP thinks that the government is basically going to take the ball and give it to the other team or essentially help them cheat. But that’s not what it’s about. It’s about FAIR competition, which is a GOOD THING. Hiring workers at poverty wages because there supposedly isn’t enough money to go around (causing those workers to go on gov’t assistance where you and I have to pay for them) and then taking all the money they “don’t have” and giving it to executives and shareholders is not fair competition. It’s cheating the system. Imagine it, we live in a society – a CIVIL-ization – where we are supposed to be civil to each other and yet it’s “okay” to pay someone so little that they need welfare and then take all the savings and buy yachts and summer homes. That’s civil?

No, it’s not.

So, progressives in the government say, “Okay, if that’s the way you’re going to run your business, we’re going to tax you at a higher rate and help the people you’re screwing”. It’s the same as saying, “You jumped off-sides and here’s your 5 yard penalty”. Actually, if anything the tax scenario is more warranted than that, because when you jump off-sides you don’t actually get to keep the advantage. They stop the play AND penalize you. In the tax scenario they are trying to even out the problem, but they aren’t actually stopping you from screwing people over.

For some reason people think that capitalism should be unregulated, because it will work itself out. The market will just correct any issues. This is like saying let’s get rid of police, because if you rob your neighbor he’s just going to blow you away with a gun and solve the problem himself. We’ve tried that all throughout history including just a couple hundred years ago in the wild west. And it was….. you guessed it….. WILD. No one liked it and people wanted order instead of chaos. So, now we have police and laws and a judicial system to provide justice. Having the government regulate businesses so that they can’t pay slave wages or put arsenic in your kid’s cereal to save money……. THOSE ARE GOOD THINGS. It’s the same as having referees or police to keep things fair and balanced. Expecting businesses to police themselves and do the right thing is utterly ridiculous and…….. DRUM ROLL……………………. obviously doesn’t work given the current state of our economy. You know, the economy where the rich are reaching sickening levels of wealth and the middle class can’t afford a $400 emergency? If trickle down, unregulated capitalism worked then things would be great right now for everyone after 40 years of doing, but….. they aren’t. The upper class is thriving and the rest are diving.

Look, literally no one wants the government to own all the businesses or take all the money and redistribute it evenly or whatever the idiot FOX viewers think. All liberals are saying is that when something becomes unfair and unbalanced the government needs to step in just like a police officer or referee to fix it. It’s not that hard to understand unless you’re stupid.
